Etegami

Etegami: Sumi ink drawings and watercolor, with text.
These are drawn with a paintbrush that is held vertically but from the very tip, as if you were dangling a piece of spaghetti. Just the tip of the brush is in contact with the surface of the paper and the slightly absorbent Japanese paper leaves a telltale mark if the artist hesitates as the ink will bleed into the paper.  It isn't an etagami unless there is also text and they're supposed to be mailed or given away.
"I look a little like this."

"half a fig = end of summer"
"August"

"Indoor Constellation"
Wild Carnations or Dianthus (Florence, Italy)
"Is anyone bothered by WHITE lilacs?"
